The two companies, which are between the largest [tag]hard disk[/tag] makers, have announced plans to retail their 1 [tag]Terabyte[/tag] disc in the first half of 2007.

The dream of those of us who basically live connected to computers: the terabyte, has finally come, and it’s real and true. Both Hitachi and [tag]Seagate[/tag] have been developing the disc and will be in stores very soon.

This is a great advantage for those who work with large amounts of data, such as uncompressed video, picture collections or even uncompressed and (not so uncompressed) music.

I personally have trouble to edit video without sweating for more and more space. Uncompressed video is extremely heavy and a normal hard disk may have trouble to handle more then a few hours of video.

According to [tag]Hitachi[/tag], the 7K100 drive (yeah, that’s its name), will be shown at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in [tag]Las Vegas[/tag], next week.
