Para todos aquellos adoradores de Barbie o, en definitiva, de lo rosa, ha llegado el nuevo modelo de Zune. Microsoft ya ha confirmado la salida de un nuevo Zune rosa.

Sus características serán las mismas que los modelos de otros colores, sólo cambiando el color a rosa.

A uno de los trabajadores de las oficinas de Google en Manhattan se le escapó una serpiente pitón en las oficinas. Al parecer, el empleado se la llevó al trabajo porque no podía separarse de ella.

Finalmente, la serpiente, de nombre ‘Kaiser’, fue encontrada y llevada de nuevo a su hogar.

Es verdad que muchos, algunos de ellos analistas y expertos, han dicho que la ciencia y la tecnología están estancadas. Que ya no se inventa nada, que es como si ya no se pudiese inventar nada porque todo ya está descubierto e inventado.

Que durante los últimos 50 años no se ha hecho ningún descubrimiento científico de vital importancia. Que el último gran avance tecnológico en nuestra historia ha sido Internet.

Es mentira. No creais eso. Siempre ha sido mentira y siempre lo será. ¿Todavía no te lo crees? Te doy ejemplos y argumentos.

Según he podido leer en El País, se está celebrando en Estados Unidos el aniversario de los blogs. El mérito se le atribuye a Dave Winer, que empezó con su bitácora Scripting News en 1997, sobre tecnología y política.

Entonces el concepto de blog no era tan extenso y, en el ejemplo del blog de Dave Winer, no había imágenes, ni elementos dinámicos, ni siquiera un diseño enriquecido. Eran simples anotaciones (o como podríamos llamarlas hoy en día, ‘posts’).

Después de dos años sabáticos, el presentador del polémico programa ‘Crónicas Marcianas” vuelve a Telecinco con “¿Dónde está Sardá?” un programa un tanto distinto al que hacía en Marte.

El programa se desarrollaría con segmentos grabados en el extranjero, donde, según explica el propio Sardá, buscarían gente que hable español para comprobar cómo se ve a España desde el exterior.

“Visitaremos países exóticos, buscando gente que hable español y que nos cuente cómo se ve España desde fuera”, dijo. “Lo que sí tengo claro es que este programa va a ser más que una escaleta”.

A ver si tenemos suerte y en este programa, Boris no enseña su ropa interior.

El otro día estaba haciendo zapping por esa increíble lista de canales que te dan los proveedores (de los cuales, muchos ni siquiera nos acordamos de que existen y saltamos automáticamente cuando buscamos programas interesantes). Fue una sorpresa encontrarme un programa de Discovery Travel and Living llamado “De Hotel en Hotel con los Smith” (en inglés Mr. and Mrs. Smith).

Resulta que es una pareja de periodistas de viaje (que ni se llaman Smith ni están casados), que viajan por las ciudades más representativas del mundo y te enseñan los hoteles boutique más chic de la ciudad. Al ser un hombre y una mujer, los dos te dan distintas opiniones sobre las habitaciones desde el punto de vista masculino y femenino.

A veces pasa. Viajas a algún lugar para pasar una estupenda semana pero, por las razones que sea, terminas queriendo volver a casa y tumbarte a ver programas de casposos en la televisión. I just read in Gizmodo the article of the [tag]Jura-Capresso[/tag] [tag]coffee[/tag] cup warmer, a $1000 machine that mantains warm up to 16 coffee cups and 24 espresso cups.

1000 bucks. I mean… if you don’t have the money, for sure that you won’t ask for loans to buy it… and if you do have the money… why to spend 10 bills of 100 bucks in a coffee warmer?

Good question. Here I post for you some reasons why you should buy this machine:

1. It’s expensive, and if the money rains in your house, you can afford it.
2. It’s expensive, and if you don’t have the money, you can always sell your kidneys, so… you can afford it.
3. Just for fun.
4. You can put your neighbour’s cat in it, and wait ’til it is ready to eat.
5. You can use it to store your gallery of traffic tickets.
6. Putting your broken iPod in it can be as frustrating as sick.
7. Buying it for your grandma, so her poker friends always have their cups warm at her parties.
8. You can buy it and then, dump it from a third floor… just to see what happens.
9. You are rich, bored, and enjoy buying stupid things.
10. Afterwards, you can sell it in eBay for 2000 bucks, and I am sure you will sell it.
11. Did I say it’s expensive?

So, are you convinced…? Hello?

Robots are no longer sci-fi. Movies like Star Wars, I Robot, and Matrix show us a perspective from future in which humans and robots live together (though sometimes with not very happy endings). Nowadays, robots are a reality. Robots exist, and we are just a step away from talking with them, playing football with them… but also getting replace by them in society.

In a recent Popular Science article, there are the latest robots in industry and several interviews. The funny thing about these articles is not only that I love them, but also that every time I read them, my mind starts to imagine how the world will be in… let’s say… 50 years.

Will Isaac Asimov’s novels come true and we will leave in a society of spaceships, galactic empires, robots and artificial planets? Or maybe we will become primitives, and we will end up living in the trees, like koalas?

I believe in fate. Yes. Me. I am a person of science, of evidence, and definitely a person that doesn’t get fooled by “divine inspiritation”. However, as I said before, I truly believe that there are some things we can’t change. We have free will, yes, but some events escape our own decisitions.

And there, my dear readers, science doesn’t play a very important role.
